Frequently Asked Question

04 What are the different operations Trip owner and co-travelers can perform?
Last Updated 2 years ago

In the context of our travel planner app, distinct roles and permissions are established to ensure a collaborative yet secure environment for managing travel itineraries. Here, we delineate the specific operations that can be performed by the Trip Owner and Co-travelers, reflecting the app's commitment to providing a seamless user experience while maintaining clear boundaries on access and control.

Trip Owner

The Trip Owner is the individual who initiates the creation of a trip within the app. This role is endowed with comprehensive permissions to manage the trip effectively. The exclusive operations available to the Trip Owner include:

  • Adding Co-travelers: The Trip Owner can invite others to join the trip as Co-travelers, fostering a collaborative planning process.
  • Removing Co-travelers: To ensure the integrity and relevance of the trip's participant list, the Trip Owner has the authority to remove any Co-traveler from the trip.
  • Modifying Co-traveler Permissions: Recognizing the diverse roles individuals may play in planning a trip, the Trip Owner can adjust permissions for each Co-traveler. This includes granting or revoking the ability to edit the trip plans.
  • Deleting the Trip: As the principal organizer, the Trip Owner retains the sole right to delete the trip if necessary, ensuring control over the trip's lifecycle.

Co-travelers

Co-travelers are participants added to the trip by the Trip Owner, enabling them to contribute to the planning process within the permissions granted to them. Their capabilities are as follows:

  • Leaving the Trip: Co-travelers maintain autonomy over their participation and can opt to leave the trip at their discretion.
  • Editing Permissions (Conditional): Co-travelers granted editing permissions by the Trip Owner can engage in a more active role. Their editable operations include:
    • Adding Plans: They can contribute new plans to the trip, enriching the itinerary.
    • Updating Plans: This allows for the modification of existing plans to reflect changes or new information.
    • Deleting Plans: In the event that plans become irrelevant or are cancelled, they can be removed from the itinerary by Co-travelers with editing permissions.

It is important to note that Co-travelers without editing permissions are limited to viewing the trip details and cannot modify the trip or its participants in any way.

This delineation of roles and permissions is designed to streamline the trip planning process, ensuring that all participants can contribute according to the level of access granted by the Trip Owner. It underscores our app's dedication to creating a user-centric platform that facilitates organized, collaborative, and flexible travel planning.
